  • Multan Stakeholder Consultation on NDC 3.0

As a signatory to the Paris Agreement, Pakistan has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Despite the ambitious goals outlined in NDC 2.0, implementation has been hampered by financial limitations, policy inconsistencies, and the absence of localized strategies. Multan, like many other regions in the country, has faced the brunt of climate-related challenges, including heatwaves, shifting weather patterns, and flood risks, which underscore the urgency of climate action at the local level. The consultation on Climate Change and NDC 3.0 held in Multan by Alternate Development Services, in collaboration with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), aimed to critically examine Pakistan’s climate commitments, identify implementation barriers, and explore inclusive and sustainable solutions. Special emphasis was placed on provincial engagement, green financing mechanisms, and the need for context-specific, evidence-based policymaking tailored to the realities of Punjab.
