Single National Curriculum (SNC) to National Curriculum of Pakistan (NCP)
This book situates the Single National Curriculum (SNC), later termed the National Curriculum of Pakistan (NCP), within broader theories of education and curriculum, drawing on classical and contemporary educational thought to frame its analysis. It critically evaluates the content, pedagogy, claims, and implications of the SNC/NCP, contrasting official promises of equity, quality, and consensus with the realities revealed in curriculum guidelines, model textbooks, and policy actions. By tracing the evolution of curriculum reforms since 2006 and examining the intense national debate triggered by the SNC and the proposed New Education Policy, the book highlights the conceptual, pedagogical, and constitutional flaws of a reform that sought centralised uniformity in a devolved education system.
