Amjad Nazeer

Chief Executive

Amjad nazeer picture

Amjad Nazeer, the head of Alternate Development Services in Islamabad, is a distinguished figure in social and public policy research, as well as a dedicated advocate for human and environmental rights. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, he holds degrees in Governance & Development Management from the UK, Human Rights Policy & Practice from Norway, and Social Anthropology from Pakistan. With a prolific portfolio, he has authored numerous research reports, booklets, op-eds, and news articles covering topics such as human and environmental rights, minority rights, child rights, and education. Previously affiliated with organizations like SAP-Pk, Oxfam-Novib, and Action Aid-Pakistan, his notable works include publications on education inequality, the Single National Curriculum, and international financial assistance. Leveraging his extensive expertise, he actively contributes to social research, delivers training, lectures, and participates in seminars at universities and civil society platforms.

Muhammad Imtiaz is an experienced professional currently serving as Manager Finance & Admin. at Alternate Development Services. With a strong background spanning over 10 years, he has worked with multinational organizations, gaining extensive expertise in financial management, human resources, and organizational development. Known for his strategic approach and commitment to excellence, he brings a blend of corporate experience and development sector insight to his role.

Mashhood Urfi

Mashhood Urfi brings a unique blend of technical expertise and policy acumen to Alternate Development Services. With a background in energy engineering from University of the Punjab, Lahore, certification in Policy Design from The Institute of Politics, Harvard Kennedy School and a specialized training in urban energy systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he stands at the crossroads of climate finance, industrial decarbonization, and renewable energy uptake.

His work focuses on understanding and shaping the role of Bretton Woods institutions in advancing sustainable transitions, particularly in sectors where carbon intensity poses systemic challenges. Mashhood’s approach combines rigorous technical advisory spanning geothermal energy, MRV systems, and industrial process efficiency, with evidence-based policy discourse that highlights both supportive and obstructive pathways in global climate governance.

At ADS, he is committed to designing transparent, actionable frameworks that align international standards with Pakistan’s industrial transformation. By synthesizing technical depth with strategic policy dialogue, Mashhood positions himself as a bridge between global financial interventions and local decarbonization imperatives, ensuring that renewable energy uptake and industrial reform are not only aspirational but operationally achievable

Amjad Mehdi

Research & Communication Officer

Amjad Mehdi, a political science graduate currently pursuing his master’s at Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad, serves as ADS’s Research and Communication Officer. With a strong commitment to environmental justice and sustainability, Mehdi draws upon his background in social activism and journalism, notably as a part of countrywide student rights campaigns and co-founder of “The Students’ Herald” magazine. His role includes leading advocacy and media campaigns for ADS, utilizing his strong communication skills to convey the organization’s mission and foster collaboration with other entities, all rooted in his dedication to social progress.

Khadija Zahra

Ms. Khadija Zahra is a sustainability and clean-energy professional currently serving as Green and Clean Energy Officer (GCEO) at Alternate Development Services (ADS), Islamabad, where she supports industrial decarbonization with a particular focus on Pakistan’s textile sector. Previously, she worked as Performance & Sustainability Lead at Nishat Chunian Limited (2023–2025), contributing to GRI/IFRS-aligned sustainability reporting, renewable energy planning (solar/biomass), Scope 1–3 emissions assessment, and ESG systems and compliance relevant to textile manufacturing. She holds an MPhil in Environmental Science from Government College University, Lahore, and has contributed to peer-reviewed research on waste/resource recovery and composting.

Abdul Haseeb Tariq

Abdul Haseeb Tariq holds an MS in Electrical Engineering (Power) from the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCASE) at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). He specialized in renewable energy, multi-energy systems, hydrogen technology, fuel cell systems, industrial decarbonization, and clean energy integration.

At Alternate Development Services (ADS), he works as an Energy Research Associate (ERA). His key responsibilities include research on energy and decarbonization in the textile and sports sectors, development of the Green Market Readiness (GMR) toolkit, development of Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) toolkit for two textile and two sports industries considering Scope I and Scope II emissions, and management of the quarterly Industrial Decarbonization Monitor (IDM).

Previously, he worked as a Green and Clean Energy Officer (GCEO) at ADS, where he focused on Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) 3.0 2025, as well as he was dedicated to energy mix, renewable transition, renewable and sustainable energy solutions, industrial decarbonization, and climate-related impacts across various industrial sectors, including textiles, sports, leather, and food and beverages (F&B).

He also served twice as a Research Associate (RA) at USPCASE, NUST and contributed to several high-impact projects and publications in esteemed journals. He has one paper published in the journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and two papers published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.

Muhammad Usman Bin Ahmed

Muhammad Usman Bin Ahmed is an energy-systems engineer currently working as Energy Transition Officer (ETO) at Alternate Development Services (ADS). He works across applied energy-transition research and analysis, bringing hands-on strengths in energy modeling and simulation, techno-economic assessment, and low-carbon solutions such as green hydrogen/fuel cells, waste-heat recovery, and integrated (multi-generation) energy systems. Before joining ADS, he was affiliated with USPCAS-E, NUST as a Research Associate and Teaching Assistant. He holds an MS in Energy Systems Engineering from NUST and has contributed to research and applied studies, including work on off-grid solar PV and captive power options for Pakistan’s textile sector under CTBCM.

Ashfa Ashraf

Ashfa Ashraf has extensively worked on industrial decarbonization and sustainable manufacturing with a focus on Pakistan’s textile sector. She earned her MS in Thermal Energy Engineering from NUST and served as a Research Associate at the US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, NUST, where she led policy advocacy and developed decarbonization frameworks to guide industry toward green transition and sustainable manufacturing. She has also worked with national and international organizations including PRIED, Pakistan and Agora Energiewende, Germany, where she developed an evidence-based sector-specific roadmap for electrification in Pakistan’s Industrial sector. She also contributed to global energy transition dialogues, collaborative projects, and knowledge sharing platforms. Through these roles, she gained expertise in renewable integration, electrification strategies, and policy design, consistently translating complex energy concepts into accessible, stakeholder ready insights that empower policymakers, industry leaders, and global partners to accelerate the energy transition.

Aaima Tanveer

With a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Quaid-e-Azam University, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ADS. As a Research Associate, she conducts in-depth research, crafts insightful policy briefs, and fosters team collaboration. Her skill set includes data analysis, comprehensive literature reviews, and fieldwork. Specializing in research methodology, critical analysis, and effective communication, she is dedicated to driving positive change. Passionate about making a meaningful impact, she is committed to the mission of ADS and its goal of benefiting our communities.

Aamir Roger Bhatti

Liaison and Coordination Officer

Aamir Roger Bhatti is a dedicated Human Rights defender based in Karachi. With a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Aamir has been a vocal advocate for social, political, and minority rights, as well as the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the right to information (RTI).

In his role as a Town Councilor at TMC New Karachi, Aamir works tirelessly to represent and support his community. He is also the President of the Peace Welfare & Development Association (PWDA), a disabled organization committed to promoting the welfare and development of individuals with disabilities. Currently, he serves as the Liaison and Communication Officer at Alternate Development Services (ADS). In this role, he connects the organization with media, relevant people, industries, and government bodies, leveraging networks.

Aamir’s commitment to human rights extends to his involvement as a National Delegation Minority Rights Member in Karachi, where he continues to champion the rights and dignity of minority communities.
